I flew into Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport and took the train into the spa town of Baden-Baden. I could see the dense beauty of the timeless Black Forest as the train rolled through the hills.
Another amazing fragrance was on the horizon and I wanted to capture the very essence of this ancient forest and it’s brooks and streams.
Baden-Baden is a beautiful spa town built in1810. It is well known for its striking Belle Époque-era architecture and oldworld luxury and the place to go for world-class pampering.
I spent the day exploring the town and anticipating the trip into the Black Forest National Park for the essence of our next artisan fragrance
A short drive took me to the Hohenbaden Castle. It is known as the Altes Schloss or “Old Castle”, and it is a marvel to behold.
Built in 1102 as the home of the Margraves, the nobles of the land during that time, Old Castle highlights secret dungeons, winding staircases that lead to the lookout point of the impressive surrounding landscape of the Black Forest.
I couldn’t turn down a chance to take in the fragrances of rose garden. Gönneranlage is a stunning rose garden designed in the baroque style with geometric symmetry. It features the Josephine Fountain named after the wife of Hermann Sielcken when he commissioned the creation of this rose garden and it’s over 10,000 roses!
Welcome to the home of the Grimm’s Fairy Tales. The setting of tales and mythology, wonder and imagination. This is the Black Forest. I’m in awe of the beauty and the legacy of this dense and ancient, evergreen forest.
I’m on a hike to unlock the secrets of the forest and the crystal streams running through it.
After a visit to the Triberg Falls, the highest falls in the Black Forest, I hiked through the woods following the smaller streams. I found what I quested for.
It’s the aroma of the lush old-world forest and the freshness of the stream. The aura of the water is matched by the scent of the forest; earthy and sweet. I dare you to not feel the influence.
After a long day of hiking I took advantage of the Friedrichsbad Spa…Baden-Baden is know for its world-class spas and pampering, so how could I refuse?
Inside, the bath features a stunning view of the frescos on the dome above the Roman/Irish baths. Opened in 1877, this was among the most modern baths in Europe, and it is still as captivating as ever—and a complete escape from all your worries.
