Cherry Blossom Journal

Back on the road, and this time my travels take me to the Orient and arriving in the stunning city of Tokyo, Japan. The world of cutting-edge technology surrounds you at the same time you’re walking into a temple over 1,000 years old. It is a surreal combination of the ancient and the new. All the while Mt. Fuji, long dormant, keeps watch above the city. It seems to be a metaphor for Wallford: combining the centuries- old art of fragrance crafting with the modern scents and designs of a sophisticated 21st century.
As with all my trips, I’ve come with a purpose. That purpose is the famed Sakura Cherry Blossom…
but right now, some sleep. Jet-lag is taking its toll.

Tokyo is one amazing cities! It’s the capital city of Japan, and is one of the most populous metropolitan cities in the world. Tokyo is a mix of the ultramodern and the traditional: from skyscrapers reaching toward the heavens bathed in neon-lights, to historic temples older than some countries.
As I walk towards the gardens, even at night, the site of the Sakura Cherry Blossoms are awe-inspiring in their beauty. I can’t wait!

This is a place is as peaceful as they come. I think I’ll sit beneath the cherry trees and take it all in before I head back.

It’s hard to travel around Tokyo and the surrounding provinces and not see the spectacular Mount Fuji looming in the background. Mount Fuji’s nearly symmetrical cone is the highest point in Japan. It is actually made-up of three volcanoes; Komitake, Kofuji, and Fuji, which is the youngest. Fuji is snow-capped for about 5 months a year and attracts over 200,000 visitors and climbers each year. Mt. Fuji is often used as a symbol of Japan and it is considered one of Japans sacred mountains.
It’s literally a beauty and a beast in one. Though this volcano has been dormant for over 300 years, it is still classified as active. I hope it remains in its slumber!

Sushi! Amazing, delicious, fresh sushi! There are so many options for delicacies in Tokyo. As of 2018, Tokyo has the most 3-starred Michelin restaurants in the world, so finding a good meal is not a problem. While in the home of sushi, I could not refuse one of my favorite meals. I traveled to Toyosu market and Sushi Daiwa. It’s renowned as one of the best. And with a wait time that can be as long as 5 hours, I know why! Everything is incredibly fresh and made right in front of me. I asked if I could stay all day and eat. They laughed and said, “There wouldn’t be enough fish in the sea after I was done!”

It’s a spectacular site approaching Himeji Castle through the cherry blossoms. White Heron Castle, as it is also known, dates back to 1333 where it started as a fortification to the former capital city of Kyoto. The castle as it is now, is over 400 years old!
The castle is over eighty buildings spread across multiple walls and courtyards, all of which are connected by a series of gates and winding paths. I entered through Sannomaru gate. I chose this entrance for a specific reason… it opens to a large courtyard containing a cherry tree lined lawn! I had to take in the centuries-old castle with the beauty of the sakura cherry blossoms as it was time to get down to business!

Time to get down to the true reason for this trip. I’ve come to Tokyo, Japan for the world famous Sakura Cherry Blossoms. The cherry blossom is considered the national flower of Japan and symbolize an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of life. They are a representation of clouds due to their nature of blooming en masse.

Well, all play and no work never gets the job done. I loved spending time traveling around Tokyo, but I have a fragrance to craft! My travels never seem to end as I search the globe for the purest natural ingredients for each Wallford fragrance, but it’s a passion to deliver the best that keeps me going.
This journey has lead to the creation of the very essence of the sakura cherry blossoms. This fragrance will only be available through (here).

Wallford Fragrance is happy to introduce you to our exclusive Cherry Blossom Fest collection. I’ve captured the very heart of the Sakura Cherry Blossom essence; its tart-yet-sweet floral aroma. Our artisan craftsmen have entwined it with the floral fragrance of jasmine accord wrapped in lily and purple violet petals. The complete fragrance displays a sophisticated elegance only Wallford could capture and one only Wallford can deliver.
